Commander Lahore Corps, Lieutenant General Rashad Mahmood has said that the supreme sacrifices rendered by the shuhada of Pakistan Army for upholding integrity and sovereignty of the country shall go down as one of the most glorious chapters in the annals of national history.
He was addressing a Youm-e-Shuhada ceremony held at Yadgar-e-Shuhada in Lahore Garrison to commemorate the soldiers who laid down their lives for the defence of motherland. The ceremony was attended by a large number of serving and retired army officers, jawans and families of martyrs.
Rashad Mahmood said that the nation greatly values the services of extreme dedication demonstrated by our officers and men while defending national frontiers. He said that it was solely because of joint commitment and resolve of soldiers and people of Pakistan that the country has persevered against anti-state forces.
He further said that the families of shuhada are the most valued assets of the nation and commended their resilience and sacrifice for a better future of the country. The nation holds them in high esteem and shall stand behind their families in their hour of trial', he added.
Commander Lahore Corps reiterated Pakistan Army's firm resolve for defence of the country. He urged the officers and soldiers to follow the footsteps of their valiant predecessors and spare no effort whatsoever to ensure impregnable defence of their motherland. Earlier, Lieutenant General Rashad Mahmood and Brigadier Qayyum Sher (retired) laid floral wreath at Yadgar-e-Shuhada to pay homage to martyrs of the armed forces, para-military forces and police and offered Fateha. A smartly turned out guard presented salute to honour shuhada on the occasion.
