Former Foreign Secretary Najmuddin Sheikh said Pakistan should enhance exports to China. Talking to PTV on Saturday, he said China offered help to create new markets for Pakistani products and also offered the country for an exhibition in China in which it would put its share to bear the expenses.
He said, "as far as imports are concerned if we import from other countries it will be more costly than China, adding Pakistan was importing lot of products from China on less amount even less from locally manufactured products". He said China's investment in Pakistan could provide job opportunities and access to markets of other countries and added that Pakistan had almost 65 percent textiles and cotton base products along with that the country need development in other sectors also.
Replying a question, he suggested that government must look into other markets for export of more products which was very easy in China and methodology of China's products could be fruitful to enhance Pakistan's production. He urged the civil society to work on people to people contacts in Pak-China relations in which students can play important part. For that purpose establishment of different institutes in both the countries and invitation of students for study in the other country can help generation of both countries to know about history and culture of each other.
