Rs 25 million for blind announced: corruption proving fatal for country: Punjab chief minister
Punjab Chief Minister, Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has said that corruption is eating into the vitals of the country and plundering and mal-administration are rampant, this is not the Pakistan visualised by Quaid-e-Azam and Poet of the East. He was addressing the inaugural ceremony of Aziz Jehan Begum Trust Complex for the blind, here on Monday.
The chief minister said those serving the ailing humanity are highly regarded and would be rewarded by Almighty Allah. He saluted them on this humanitarian spirit. He announced rupees 20 million on behalf of Punjab government and a donation of rupees five million on behalf of his family for Aziz Jehan Begum Trust for the blind.
Shahbaz said if the process of corruption, oppression and excesses continued, then nothing would be left for the common man. "If we want to move ahead, supremacy of law and fair play would have to be upheld while injustice and corruption would have to be extirpated. Relying upon the resources of the country, we have to shun the habit of bowing before others against foreign aid," he maintained. According to him, the 'process of dacoities and plundering' is continuing for the last 63 years in the country, which has created poverty and unemployment. The chief minister said ' if we want to march forward, we would have to give preference to national interest over our personal interest. Plundering of national resources was also a dacoity over the rights of poor families and disabled children.
