An application has been filed before the Lahore High Court praying to restrain former president Pervez Musharraf from taking part in politics and banning his party. The application was filed by Rana Illumddin Ghazi in a pending matter against Pervez Musharraf.
The petitioner contended in his application that the Supreme Court had already held Musharraf guilty of treason, therefore, he could not form any political party. The petitioner in his petition, already pending with the court had levelled 15 allegations against Musharraf.
The lawyer alleged that the former army chief had dissolved an elected parliament; he prevented judges of the Supreme Court and four High Courts from performing their judicial duties and detained Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry along with his children.
Accusing General Musharraf of killing thousands of Hafiz-e-Quran girls and boys during the Jamia Hafsa operation, the lawyer said that the former president also compelled Dr Abdul Qadeer Khan to accept charges of illegally selling nuclear technology.
The petitioner alleged Musharraf of killing Nawab Muhammad Akbar Khan Bugti, making plans to kill Benazir Bhutto and kidnapping of Dr Aafia Siddiqui. The petitioner requested the court to direct the federal government to lodge a case against the former president under Article 6 of the Constitution.
