Taiwan stocks ended flat on Wednesday as a rise in machinery shares offset a slip in energy issues. The main TAIEX index was up 1.27 points at 8,947.35, after opening down 0.1 percent. The oil and plastics sub-indices were the biggest laggards, falling 2.02 percent and 1.94 percent, respectively. Machinery shares surged 3.01 percent and information service shares also climbed 2.51 percent. Electronics shares rose 0.46 percent, reversing earlier losses.
