Solar, wind energy items exempted from ST, FED

The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has exempted sales tax and federal excise duty (FED) on import and local supply of items including solar PV panels with dedicated use of renewable sources of energy like solar and wind, etc. The FBR has amended SRO 655(I)/2007 through a notification issued here on Saturday.
According to the notification, the exemption of sales tax and FED would be available on the import and local supply of solar PV panels, LVD Induction Lamps, SMD, LEDs with or without ballast with fittings and fixtures, lanterns and related instruments, solar torches, wind turbines including alternators and mast and PV modules along with the related components including invertors, charge controllers and batteries.
