A Chinese company Kingho Group intends to invest in Thar Coal and other energy projects. An official statement, here on Saturday, said that a 14-member delegation of the company called on Sindh Chief Minister, Syed Qaim Ali Shah at CM's House here.
The leader of the delegation Zou Yi in his briefing informed the chief minister that Kingho Group, being the largest private group has a manpower of 64,000 people and possesses 22 billion tons of reserves of coal and 800 million tons of Iron ore. He added that his company has collected necessary data and figures, while meetings regarding the project have been held with the concerned authorities.
Speaking on the occasion, Qaim Ali Shah said that there are cordial relations between Pakistan and China, and that these relations will be cemented further with the passage of time. He recalled that bilateral relations between the two countries were cemented during the government of Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto. He stated that President Asif Ali Zardari has paid several visits to China and undertook efforts to increase investment in various sectors of Pakistan.
The chief minister assured the Chinese company that Sindh Government will provide all required facilities and full security would be made available to the company. He expressed that he is very happy that there will be signing of an agreement between Government of Sindh and Kingho Company, which will go a long way in the betterment and development process. He welcomed Chinese delegation and assured all possible facilities to them in their endeavours.
Speaking on the occasion, Advisor to Prime Minister, Kamal Majeedullah hoped that both the countries will extend co-operation with each other in the fields of mining and power generation. The meeting was informed that the evaluation committee has already cleared the scheme and MoU/agreement draft is being prepared jointly by Government of Sindh and Kingho company. It was further informed that a meeting of Thar Coal and Energy Board will be held on May 11 in which draft agreement for the MoU will be finalised.
The meeting was attended among others by Advisor to CM for Investment, Zubair Motiwala, Ambassador at large Khalil Ahmed, Secretary Mines and Mineral Aijaz Ali Khan, Secretary to CM Sindh, Alamuddin Bullo, Director General Thar Coal and Energy Board Abdul Majeed Pathan and others.
