Commodities fluctuated both ways on the wholesale markets in line with the global trend during the week ended on May 7, 2011. On Monday wheat old and new both sustained rise and notched fresh gain of Rs 10 to Rs 2380 and Rs 2395, Irri-6 Sindh gained Rs 50 to Rs 3475 and Rs 3600, cottonseed oil-cakes Sindh low type conceded Rs 30 to Rs 1300, while the other type sustained level at Rs 1370.
On Jodia Bazaar chemical items (per kg) petroleum jelly DDBSA rose by Rs 10 to Rs 160 and PVA Japan gained Rs 50 to Rs 245, Rangolite C (per pound) stuff from India conceded Re 1 to Rs 88, Hydrosulphite China 88pc rose by Rs 4 to Rs 79, while from Germany was quoted at Rs 73, Acetic acid Taiwan gained Rs 6 to Rs 96, Korean gained Rs 4 to Rs 92, hydrogen peroxide Descon 50pc down by Rs 2 to Rs 64, Sitara lost Re 1 to Rs 63, while Taiwan 35 percent lost Re 3 to Rs 60.
On Tuesday wheat maintained rising streak picking up Rs 10 to Rs 2390 and Rs 2405, Irri 6 Sindh conceded (low type) Rs 75 to Rs 3400, while the other type lost Rs 150 to Rs 3450, cottonseed oil cake, Sindh with bag low type gained Rs 40 to Rs 1340, while better type rose by Rs 10 to Rs 1380.
On Wednesday wheat old with bardana and new surrendered earlier gains, as they lost Rs 10 to Rs 2380 and Rs 2395. Gur low type was unchanged at Rs 6000, while the better type rose by Rs 20 to Rs 7000. Irri 6 Sindh low type was put at Rs 3400, while better type rose by Rs 50 to Rs 350. Cotton-seed oil-seed shed Rs 15 to Rs 1325, while the other gained Rs 20 to Rs 1400.
On Jodia Bazaar Kirana items (per 40-kg) white pepper rose by Rs 600 to Rs 32,000, black pepper rose by Rs 1400 to Rs 21,000, black pepper from Ceylon rose by Rs 1000 to Rs 20,500, mace lost Rs 3000 to Rs 99000, big cardamom lost Rs 4000 to Rs 86,000. Ajwain rose by Rs 1000 to Rs 7100, dry ginger from China ended down Rs 400 to Rs 14,800, while long pepper scaled higher by Rs 8500 to Rs 33,000.
On Thursday gur low type scaled higher by Rs 200 to Rs 6200, better type was up Rs 100 to Rs 7100. Irri-6 Sindh low type ended higher by Rs 25 to Rs 3425, while the better variety was put at Rs 3500. Cottonseed oilcakes with bag from Sindh low type recovered Rs 35 to Rs 1360, while better type held at Rs 1400.
On Jodia Bazaar raw rubber from Ceylon (pr lb) Merryrub (equivalent to RSS3) rose by Rs 4 to Rs 235, RSSV rose by Rs 5 to Rs 240, Latex, Marrytax (28-kg) was quoted at Rs 1450 and Semnan Tax quoted at Rs 1450.
On Friday rates were unchanged, as almost all participants were busy in preparations for Juma prayers. On Jodia Bazaar unsweetened milk ended. The changes were : UNSWEETENED MILK (Per carton): King of Kings moved upward by Rs 100 to Rs 4,200. MILK POWDER SKIMMED (Per bag of 25-kg): Irish skimmed was quoted at Rs 8,500 and Haleeb SMP was quoted at Rs 6,500.
On Saturday grams rates were lower. Yellow peas Canada low type was down by Rs 50 to Rs 3600, while the best type shed Rs 25 to Rs 3800, yellow peas Canada dal followed the same pattern, low type came down after a fall of Rs 50 to Rs 3950, while the best quality shed Rs 25 to Rs 4100, yellow peas Ukraine low type lost Rs 25 to Rs 3525, while the best quality was unchanged at Rs 3725, yellow peas Ukrain dal lost Rs 125 to Rs 3900 and better quality gained Rs 120 to Rs 4150, other items managed to hold the overnight levels. Irri-6 Sindh rose by Rs 50 to Rs 3475, while the good type was unchanged at Rs 3500. On the cereal side a solo deal was reported at gur low type was sharply higher by Rs 500 to Rs 6500, while the best type retained the overnight level. Cottonseeds oilcake with bag Sindh inferior type was down by Rs 35 to Rs 1325, while the best type was unmoved.
