GIZ, a German Agency for international development is ready to work in Punjab and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) with NAVTEC as focal point. The Agency will be spending 17 millions Euros in this regard. The main components of their activity would be Governance and Institution building, National Qualification Framework and HRD support for Technical & Vocational Education and Training (TVET) sector in Pakistan.
GIZ in collaboration with NAVTEC will work on empowerment of marginalised sections of society, enhancing productivity and developing a mechanism for vocational guidance for the poor and deprived. This was stated by Dr Ute Hoffman, Senior TVET Advisor, TVET Reform Support Programme GIZ, in a meeting with Executive Director NAVTEC, Tariq Shafi Chak. Dr Ute Hoffman was leading a two member GIZ delegation.
The Executive Director (ED) NAVTEC welcomed the delegation and introduced the organisation and its purposes. He emphasised the need for Training of Trainers for a proper delivery/development of skills, establishment of national skill standards, curricula development, accreditation and certification, which are in fact the core mandate of NAVTEC.
He stressed the visibility of the assistance and transparency in execution, and the need for executing trainings particularly in backward areas and further that the institutes receiving such assistance should be accredited/certified by the affiliated institutes in Germany or elsewhere abroad.-PR
