All police officials were directed to conduct fresh survey in their respective areas to get first hand information pertaining to the people living in the federal capital.
The decision to this effect was made in a meeting held with DIG (Operations) Bani Amin Khan in the chair, which was also attended by SSP Islamabad Tahir Alam Khan, SP Saddar Dr Khurram Rasheed, SP City Muhammad Ilyas, SP Rural Umer Hyat, SP Industrial Area Ishaq Warraich and SP CIA Chaudhary Liaqat Ali along with all SDPOs and SHOs.
Bani Amin Khan directed all police officials to conduct survey in their respective areas and gather information regarding the dwellers, adding that complete information should be maintained about the history of people permanently or temporarily residing there. He said that notables of the community should be involved in the process and Security and Vigilance Committees in various police stations should be activated to make the drive a success.
DIG (Operations) said that new beat system has been introduced in the city and Community Police Centers (CPCs) are functioning in various areas aimed at maintaining high vigilance to curb anti-social activities. He said that police officers deputed at these CPCs would be provided necessary logistic support to ensure effective policing through community support.
DIG Bani Amin Khan reviewed the performance of all police officials during the last month and directed to dispose off under investigation cases at the earliest. He directed all SPs that those investigation officers involved in delaying of submitting challans of cases in courts should be issued show cause notices.
He also directed to ensure arrest of proclaimed offenders at the earliest and ensure registration of cases without any delay at the police stations. DIG was informed that 1212 criminals were arrested during April and looted items worth Rs 33 million, twelve stolen cars, 56 tampered vehicles were recovered from them. A total of 71 cases of drug peddling, 76 cases of possessing illegal weapons were registered, while 19 proclaimed offenders, 71 court absconders, 85 beggars, 60 gamblers, 161 suspects were arrested during the last month. As many as 169 challans were submitted in courts while 18 challans were re-submitted in courts after removing objections on them.
The SSP Tahir Alam Khan said it is the prime responsibility of the force to ensure protection to the lives and property of the citizens by curbing anti-social activities. The SSP directed the authorities to maintain high vigilance at police pickets and launch massive crackdown against those involved in running gambling den, immoral activities or selling narcotics in their respective areas to ensure the earliest arrest of criminals.
While urging the police officials to work with honesty warned that those involved in corrupt practices would not be spared, adding the objective to make Islamabad police corruption-free would be achieved at all cost.
