A meeting of the revamped Cabinet will be held today (Wednesday) with Prime Minister Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani in the chair.
According to the agenda made available to Business Recorder, signing of the European Union's four financing agreements (FAs), financial protocol worth euro 33.44 million for extension of water resources for Faisalabad City Phase-1, supplementary grant of Rs 20 million for Human Rights Division, status of implementation of Cabinet decisions pertaining to the Finance Division and MoU on the establishment of the joint trade committee between the government of Thailand and Pakistan would be discussed.
Similarly, confirmation of the decisions taken by the ECC of the Cabinet in it meeting held on 11 & 25 April (Cabinet Division), Presentation on Consumer Price Index in the country to overseas/discuss the trend of price of essential commodities, (Finance Division), loan agreement with JICA KPK emergency road rehabilitation project (EAD), credit facility agreement with French Development Agency (AFD) worth euro 26.5 million for funding the rehabilitation of Jabban Hydroelectric Power Generation Project (EAD), approval in principle of the Cabinet to start negotiations with the Ev-K2-CNR on MoU on climate change and adaptation measures (EAD), approval of the Cabinet for initiating negotiations on MoU for co-operation in the field of housing between Ministry of Housing and works, Pakistan and Ministry of Housing Indonesia (Housing and Works Division), approval for signing of negotiated draft visa abolition agreement between the GoP and Chile for diplomatic and official passports holder, (Interior Division), signing of MoU between UN and GoP regarding deployment of formed policed unit in Sudan (Darfur) (Unamid) (Interior Division), approval in principle to start negotiations for Pakistan membership of the forum of federations, (Inter Provincial Coord. Division) and permission to start negotiations with Republic of Tajikistan to conclude a MoU on co-operation in the filed of vocational training (Labour Division) would be discussed.
Other items on the agenda are: ratification of the convention between GOP and Ukraine for avoidance of Double Taxation and prevention of fiscal evasion with respect to taxes on Income (Revenue Division), Ratification of MoU between Ministry of Ports and Shipping and Ministry of Transport & Communication of Turkey in the field of maritime co-operation signed during PM visit to Turkey (Port & Shipping Division), Approval of the Cabinet to initiate and sign the MoU between BoI of Pakistan and Russian National Investment Promotion Agency (BoI) would be discussed. Sources said the US military operation in Abbottabad would also be discussed in the Cabinet meeting.
