Islamabad Police announced general hold up in Federal Capital for a massive hunt of criminals and succeeded in detaining 22 persons including two proclaimed offenders, while 30 bottles of liquor, 1.500 kg charas, one kg heroin, weapons were recovered from their possession. Moreover, Capital Police also impounded 103 motorcycles and 30 vehicles being driven without documents.
The Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Islamabad Tahir Alam Khan has directed all Station House Officers to conduct strict checking in their respective jurisdictions and also manage general hold up in various timings to deal with the rising criminal activities, said Naeem Iqbal, Spokesman of Islamabad Police here on Thursday. After the instructions general hold up was declared during which 22 persons were arrested for their alleged involvement in different crimes and huge quantity of drugs, weapons and other commodities were recovered from them, he said.
During a routine patrolling Nilore Police stopped four persons in its jurisdiction and on search one Kalashnikov, three pistols and 77 bullets of different calibre were recovered from the detained persons who were identified as Ghalib Hussain, Haider, Arshad Mehmud and Zulfiqar.
Shehzad Town Police during routine checking nabbed three persons namely Islam Bacha, Ehsanullah and Ibadat Khan under the drug trafficking allegations and police recovered a total of 1.500kg charas, one pistol and eight bullets from them. Koral Police apprehended five persons, including two women for their alleged involvement in bootlegging and prostitution, the spokesman said, adding that these persons were identified as Subhan Uddin, Waqar Ahmed, Zulfiqar Ahmed, Asima and Yasmeen. Police also recovered seven bottles of liqueur from them.
Golra Police during the general hold-up stopped a person namely Naseer Ahmed and on search one 7 mm rifle was recovered from his possession. Shalimar Police nabbed two car occupants Sana-ur-Rehman anad Rubina for having 23 bottles of liquor. Sabzi Mandi Police during the general hold up arrested Muhammad Ilyas for theft and recovered a stolen mobile from him. Sabzi Mandi Police also held a lady smuggler namely Shakeela and recovered 1.050 kg heroin from her.
Aabpara Police apprehended two thieves identified as Aslam and Yaseen and recovered stolen items worth Rs 70,000 and one pistol from them. Ten suspects were also arrested by Bhara Kahu, Sabzi Mandi, Aabpara, Golra Police Stations during the crackdown and further investigation is underway from them.
Golra and Nilore Police arrested two proclaimed offenders while 103 motorbikes and 30 vehicles were also impounded during general hold up as their owners could not produce relevant documents. DIG (Operations) Bani Amin Khan and SSP Islamabad Tahir Alam Khan have directed all police officials to conduct checking in slum areas and intensify patrolling to curb anti-social activities.
