The Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Islamabad Tahir Alam Khan, taking stern action against lethargic attitude of police officials, directed the authority concerned to deploy smart and alert policemen at security check points.
"It is imperative to deploy smart and vigilant police personnel at entry and exit points of the Capital and on check points during night shift and disciplinary action be taken against sluggish and corrupt cops," the SSP said while presiding over a meeting held to chalk out effective strategy against criminal elements and ensure vigilant policing in the city.
The meeting was attended among others by Superintendents of Police (SPs) of all four circles like SP Saddar Dr Khurram Rasheed, SP City Muhammad Ilyas, SP Industrial Area Ishaq Warraich, SP Rural Umer Hyat and DSP Security Altaf Aziz Khattak. The SPs briefed the SSP about the performance of their circles.
The SSP directed all SPs to deploy alert policemen at police pickets during third shift at night and issue show cause notices, besides taking strict disciplinary action in case of their sluggish attitude and involvement in corrupt practices. He said that Community Police Officers have been deputed in the jurisdictions of all police stations and they should be assigned duties to check duties at pickets from time to time. Under the new idea of dividing areas of police stations to the Additional SHOs, the performance of their subordinate staff should be checked from time to time, he maintained.
Tahir Alam Khan also ordered to review the overall performance or attitude of members of Security and Vigilance Committees and scrutinize their names if they are not co-operativing with police. The SSP said that massive crackdown has been ordered against drug pushers and those running gambling den. He said that every possible effort should be made to get rid of these evils and police must play their role effectively to curb anti-social elements activities.
