The joint in-camera session of the Parliament was held here on Friday under a heavy security blanket. Military helicopters remained hovering over Islamabad for air surveillance while commandos of Pakistan Army, Rangers, Anti Terrorist Squad and Police were also deployed around the Red Zone to thwart any untoward incident.
After Friday prayers, the Red Zone was closed for kinds of vehicular traffic. Media persons were also denied entry into the zone. Despite the heavy security arrangements, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and civil society activists held a protest demonstration, demanding an open briefing on US raid in Abbottabad.
Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani, Leader of the Opposition in National Assembly Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, ministers and parliamentarians attended the joint sitting of the Parliament. Director General Military Operation, Deputy Air Chief and Director General of the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) briefed the parliamentarians about the unilateral US action in Abbottabad.
