The Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI) on Sunday underlined the need for promoting peace in the region through enhancing trade activities among the Saarc countries.
President RCCI Syed Ali Raza Saeed, while briefing about the RCCI imitative said five-day expo "Made in Pakistan" is being jointly organised with Trade Development Corporation of Pakistan (TDCP) at Dhaka from June 14 to 18 with the objective to export trade potential among the regional countries.
"It is the time to explore the regional venues to sell our products, as 90 percent of our products have great potential in the neighbouring countries", Ali added.
He said that organising export expo outside the country was an uphill task and responsibility was taken by the RCCI and its members. He expressed the hope that the next month expo would be very helpful in promotion of contacts between trade bodies of both the countries and would enhance trade. Bangladesh High Commissioner to Pakistan Sohrab Hussain said that it was his duty to facilitate and assist RCCI so that it could organise expo in his country. The good thing is that the people of both the countries are familiar to each other and hoped that the Pakistani trade body would have no problem in the Bangladesh.
Over 200 trade delegations would participate and 70 stalls of local goods would be displayed in the expo titled "Made in Pakistan" starting from 14 to 18 June, 2011.
Speaking on the occasion Chairman RCCI standing Committee for Fairs & Expos, Kashif Shabbir said that Bangladesh growth rate is 6 percent and purchasing power of Bangladeshi people is rapidly increasing, which would benefit Pakistani mission to enhance Pakistani exports to Bangladesh.
He said that RCCI took initiative of promoting local goods in the regional markets and stressed the need to go for more trade among the region.
Member RCCI and Convenor of "Made in Pakistan" Khursheed Barlas stressed the importance of the bilateral trade ties between Pakistan and Bangladesh and also underlined the benefits of regional trade.
