Employees of different government departments of Khyber Paktunkhawa will protest against non-acceptance of their long pending charter of demands and to stage a sit-in on Thursday (tomorrow) in Islamabad.Tommorrow. The announcement made by Central Chairman, All Pakistan Government Employees Confederation (APGEC), Haji Abdul Ghaffar Kundzai while addressing a news conference here at Peshawar Press Club.
He informed that the employees had presented a charter of demands early this year, which has yet to be implemented. He said that the government had least bothered to look at their longstanding demands. Following indifferent attitude of the government, he said the employees had launched countrywide protests.
Ghaffar said that the government employees were forced to take to street, as they were facing a lot of financial problems due to galloping inflation. The Central President APGEC said that the ruling PPP-led coalition government had not failed in provision of Roti, Kapra aur Makan, but also deprived the masses from electricity, gas and water. He demanded of the government to increase salaries of all employees of Khyber Paktunkhwa, including FATA, and Azad Jammu Kashmir in upcoming fiscal budget keeping in view price hike in the country.
He called for restraining from proposed privatisation of different institutions, Board of Governance, Board of Management and District School Authority. He informed that they would stage a sit-in on Thursday (tomorrow) in federal capital to press the government to accept their demands immediately. He said the workers from different provinces along with Pak Secretariat employees would also hold a rally on May 25 outside the Parliament House in Islamabad.
He vowed that the agitation campaign would continue till fulfilment of their demands. President All Pakistan Employees Confederation, Khyber Paktunkhwa Chapter, Iftikhar Shamozai, President Officers Association KP, Nasurallah and a large number of government employees were present on the occasion.
