The Jamaat-e-Islami Secretary General, Liaquat Baloch, has said that the attacks by Nato helicopters inside our territory and drone attacks following the parliament's joint resolution were tantamount to kicking out such documents. Talking to media personnel at Mansoora, on Wednesday, he said that the rulers had been continuously silent since the May 2 incident, which implied that they had no option except to obey Washington.
The government had even failed to enforce the parliament's lifeless resolution, and the country's independence and sovereignty had been curbed under the noise of the Nato helicopters and the drones, he added. Liaquat Baloch said, those expecting an apology from Senator John Kerry had to tender an apology to Kerry and also assure him of prompt compliance in future while the US representative had given a slap on the rulers' face by announcing continued policy of drone attacks.
He said the NRO beneficiary rulers totally depending on US aid had mortgaged the country's independence in the US hands and they could neither steer the motherland out of the present crisis nor see Washington eye to eye. Referring to PML(N) leader Mian Nawaz Sharif's criticism on the Zardari government, he said this was meaningless as nobody would believe those who had stood by the PPP government in every difficulty for the last three years.
He said that Mian Brothers tried to befool the masses by issuing such statements for a few days but later went back on their own words. It was to be seen for how many days Mian Nawaz Sharif would stick to his present stand, he remarked. Liaquat Baloch said that the poor masses of the country had been offering huge sacrifices for the country and now the ruling elite would have to make sacrifices. The JI, he said, had always believed that the country should dispense with the foreign aid but the bitter fact was that the rulers were bowing before the US only to get more foreign aid.
