Improved fuel supply to power generation units, end to electricity theft and regular billing could help end load-shedding in the metropolis, said KESC COO Tabish Gohar here on Wednesday. "We need uninterrupted and smooth supply of gas and furnace oil to our power generation units," he said this while addressing a press conference.
He said there was no deliberate attempt by the management of KESC to resort to load-shedding and resented power riots and attacks on KESC offices. "Some hidden elements are involved in various acts of violence against KESC," he alleged without pointing out finger on any group.
He was of the view that differences between the management and employees should not cause inconvenience to the customers, as issues could be solved through negotiations. Despite being over staffed, last year 6,500 employees were regularised and a 'Human resource committee' was being set up to look into all aspects pertaining to the employees.
Tabish Gohar said that billing system has been improved to a great extent. About various measures taken by KESC to improve power production, he said a bio-fuel gas project has already been launched in Landhi area and a 700MW plant will also start production later this year. "During the last two-and-a-half years, 400MW power supply has been added into the system," he added.
