The Heritage Caravan under the auspices of Tourism Corporation Khyber Paktunkhwa (TC-KPK) had explored rich and unique culture of Chitral. In second phase, the caravan headed by Dr Abdul Samad, Consultant, Directorate of Archeology & Museums, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa visited Kalash, Bomborat, Rumbur valleys of the district.
The caravan was comprised of three different categories including senior citizens, students and teenagers. The 30-member caravan had fascinated by the antique and ritual dances during the Kalash festival. The symbolic and nomadic dresses and cultural values had attracted participants of heritage caravan, local and foreign tourists as well. During a weeklong free guided tour, the members of the caravan also witnessed annual spring festival "Chelum Josh" in Kalash and visited in different valleys like Bomborate, Rumbur attracted by elegance and beauty of Chitral.
In a bid to provide an opportunity to general masses to travel across various historic places and to get information about cultural values of the province, the Tourism Corporation in collaboration with Directorate of Archaeology & Museums, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa had initiated a free guided tour. On the occasion, Shagufta Malik, a women legislator and chairperson Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly Standing Committee on Culture, in her message said that the government has taken measures to revive archaeological tourism in the province. She assured that the government would extend all kind of support to preserve and create awareness among youth about rich culture of the province through such events. She expressed the hope that the programme would continue in future.
