The budget session of the National Assembly and Senate would be held separately on June 3, and the same day Budget for 2011-12 would be presented in both Houses of the Parliament it is learnt. Sources in the National Assembly Secretariat said that Finance Minister Dr Abdul Hafeez Sheikh would present the Budget.
They said that the National Assembly is likely to pass the Budget on June 24, 2011. The budget session would continue for more than 22 days. At the end of the session, sources said, two bills and audit reports of Auditor General of Pakistan are likely to be presented in the House.
Senate session has also been summoned on June 3, 2011. The budget would also be presented in Senate on the same day for discussion. Earlier, the Senate used to discuss the budget for presenting its recommendations within seven days to the Lower House of the Parliament. Now after the passage of 18th Constitution Amendment, the Senate would present its recommendations within 14 days to the National Assembly. According to President''s spokesman Farathullah Babar, the President has summoned the session of National Assembly on Friday June 3. Separately, the President has also summoned the session of Senate on the same day ie Friday, June 3.
Meanwhile, the National Assembly Secretariat sources also told Business Recorder that PML-N) has submitted resolution in the Secretariat, containing signatures of 93 MNAs to discuss recommendations of in-camera joint-session held on May 13, 2011 for briefing military leadership to the Parliamentarians on the US raid in Abbottabad which resulted in killing al Qeada leader Osama bin Laden. They said that PML-N members had also submitted privilege motion to discuss why the recommendations are not being implemented by the government passed by the joint session of parliament.
