Hot and dry weather in most parts of the country increased electricity demand from 15073 MW to 16156 MW, an increase of about 1,100 MW whereas the power generation decreased by about 100 MW on Sunday. Briefing newsmen about power situation, a PEPCO spokesman said all hydel, thermal, IPPs and RPPs generated 14,453 MW electricity while demands was 16,156 MW.
There was a shortfall of 1703 MW between demand and supply, which was met by load shedding.
PEPCO's hydel units produced 5232 MW, thermal 1809 MW, IPPs 7239 MW and RPP 173 MW electricity.
Meanwhile the meteorological department has forecast mainly hot and dry weather over most parts of the country with chances of dust raising winds over the plain areas on Monday (today). However, a few thunder rain may likely to occur over Gilgit- Baltistan and Kashmir as a trough of low-pressure area lies over the region.
There would be little change in this weather outlook during the next two days, it added.
It said the weather remained mainly hot and dry in most parts of the country on Sunday. The highest maximum temperature 47 degree Celsius was recorded at Nawabshah and Sibi and lowest minimum temperature 8.3 degree Celsius was registered at Hunza, Gilgit - Baltistan.
