Skin diseases including infections and allergies are the most common problems that people face in rural and low income areas and katchi abadis that surround outskirts of the city. The specialists and doctors believed that most of the skin problems emerged due to unhygienic and dusty environment, adding insects and dust are also main causes for skin.
The rise in temperature, absence of electricity and ventilation and sewage and waste disposal were adding to the miseries of communities in such localities. Dr Bahram Khan, Assistant Professor, Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) talking to Business Recorder said that skin diseases rise by 15 percent in summer season. He underscored that people may suffer bacteria infection, fungus infection, pimples and scabies etc due to unhygienic conditions.
He said it is appalling that many people are suffering with skin problems but no attention had been paid to protect people from these diseases. He urged government to take cleanliness measures especially in slum areas in order to control such type of diseases.
