Deputy vice-chancellor, University of Health Sciences, Khorasan Iran, Dr Khaliq Ressini, who is currently visiting Lahore, met the Principal Allama Iqbal Medical College (AIMC) here on Tuesday and discussed areas of co-operation for joint research in different diseases.
During the meeting, possibility of collaboration in different fields between the two educational institutions came under discussion and it was agreed that there exist ample chances of co-operation between University of Health Sciences Khorasan and AIMC Lahore.
It was agreed that both the institutions would exchange delegations of students and faculty members and internship would also be provided to the students. Allama Iqbal Medical College would send experts of cardiac diseases and organs transplantation whereas UHS Khorasan would send experts of public health to AIMC.
After the meeting, Principal AIMC Professor Dr Javed Akram informed that a MoU to be signed very soon between the two institutions through which joint research would be carried out on different diseases including diabetes, cardiac diseases and hypertension.
He further said that a proposal of declaring UHS Khorasan and Allama Iqbal Medical College Lahore sister organisations also came under discussion. Professor Javed Akram said that at present, nine Iranian students have been studying at AIMC and the number of students would be increased as a result of collaboration between the two educational institutions.
