Generally steady condition ruled on the commodity wholesale markets, while globally speaking a couple of items showed rise giving way for charity institution to see world food to lose balance in matter of supply.
On Monday wheat old and new with bardana showed weakness by Rs 20 to Rs 2480 and Rs 2495. Gur low type also lost Rs 100 to Rs 6500, while the better type was stock up at previous level, khandsari also lost Rs 100 to Rs 7500, gram Australia lost Rs 50 to Rs 4300 and Rs 4500, gram dal Australia shed Rs 100 to Rs 5050 and Rs 5200, yellow peas Canada yielded Rs 50 to Rs 3600 and better quality was down Rs 25 to Rs 3775, yellow peas dal Canada rose by Rs 100 to Rs 4100 ad Rs 4150, yellow peas Ukraine low type shed Rs 75 to Rs 3475, while better type was down Rs 100 to Rs 3650, yellow peas dal Ukraine low type shed Rs 300 to Rs 3700, while better type down Rs 75 to Rs 4050, Irri 9 Sindh rose by Rs 200 to Rs 4700 to Rs 800, Irri 6 Sindh low type gained Rs 25 to Rs 3650, and better one rose by Rs 100 to Rs 3800, basmati No 386 quoted at Rs 5700 and Rs 5800, and rapeseeds Mirpur low type lost Rs 200 to Rs 2100, while better type was down Rs 175 to Rs 2150, cottonseed cakes with bag in Sindh inferior type rose by Rs 30 to Rs 1350, while the other type rose by Rs 10 to Rs 1400.
On Jodia Bazaar kirana items (per 40-kg) black pepper Singapore conceded Rs 400 to Rs 20,000 nutmeg closed lower by Rs 400 to Rs 29600, cloves rose by Rs 1000 to Rs 35,000 cooking oil Meezan 5 better Rs 850, Meezan 16 liter Rs 2460, Habib 5 liter Rs 975, Soya Dalda 5 liter Rs 975 and Soya Super 5 liter Rs 975, Meezan 5 kilo (ghee) Rs 850, Meezan 16 kilo Rs 2585, Habib 5 kilo Rs 975, Dalda 5 kilo Rs 975, Soya Supreme 5 kilo Rs 975.
On Tuesday dealers waited more to hear about Budget 2011-12 than to receive the buyers. On cereal side wheat old with bardana and new rates rose by Rs 10 to Rs 2845 and Rs 2500, Irri 6 Sindh stayed put at Rs 3680, while the other quality shed Rs 100 to Rs 3700, rapeseed Nawabshah was quoted at Rs 2225 and Rs 2250, rapeseed cakes conceded Rs 5 to Rs 870 and Rs 875, cottonseed cakes with bag in Sindh inferior type was put at Rs 1350, while the better quality rose by Rs 20 to Rs 1420.
On Wednesday wheat with old bardana and new surged by Rs 50 to Rs 2490 and Rs 2505, grams 50 x 50 rose by Rs 100 to Rs 4850 and Rs 5050, Irri 6 Sindh dropped by Rs 50 to Rs 3500 and Rs 3650, cottonseed oilcake was put at Rs 1350, while better type lost Rs 2 to Rs 1400.
On Jodia Bazaar Kirana items (40-kg) mace rose by Rs 2000 to Rs 100,000 nutmeg shed Rs 2000 to Rs 28,000 big cardamom lost Rs 1000 to Rs 80,000 Indian copra rose by Rs 350 to Rs 7000 and Ajwan lost Rs 1000 to Rs 5500.
On Thursday a few changes were noted on the commodity wholesale markets, such as wheat old bardana rose by Rs 5 to Rs 2495 and new type rose by same amount to Rs 2510. Cotton cakes with bag Sindh low type rose by Rs 30 to Rs 1380, while the other type was put at Rs 1400.
On Jodia Bazaar changes in plastic mouldings (per lb) were marked in HDPE (film) Saudia 952 lost 25-paisa to Rs 7175 TR 144 quoted at Rs 72. HDPE injection Sabic 20056 rose by 25-paisa to Rs 81.25 and Iran rose by Re One to Rs 80, HDPE blow Marlex from Singapore lost Re one to Rs 74, while Iran' lost 75-paisa to Rs 70.75, LDPE 374 quoted at Rs 90.25, LLDPE W 118 shed 5 paisa to Rs 72.75and 7087 rose by 25 paisa to Rs 72.75, polypropylene (film) from India lost Rs 1.75 to Rs 90.25, polypropylene tape grade from India ended lower by Rs 1.75 to Rs 7.25 and Saudia lost Rs 1.75 to Rs 85.25, polypropylene injection grade India lost 50-paisa to Rs 86.50, polystyrene Pakistani quoted at Rs 4856, copoly block ended down Re One to Rs 91 and Random shed Re 1 to Rs 97, High impact Pakistani quoted at Rs 5470, ABS polylac 707 lost Rs 100 to Rs 7000.
On Friday commodities prices did not show any change on the wholesale grain and seed market as participants were busy in preparations for Juma prayers.
On Saturday prices showed modest increase in grams, as other commodities retained the overnight levels mostly. Gram Australia was higher by Rs 50 to Rs 4350-4550, grams dal Australia low type picked up by Rs 150 to Rs 5200 and better type rose by Rs 200 to Rs 5400, yellow peas Canada gained Rs 50 to Rs 3650 and Rs 3825, yellow peas dal Canada, however, low type shed Rs 50 to Rs 4050 and in sympathy good type was also down by Rs 25 to Rs 4225, yellow peas Ukraine inched up after gaining Rs 25 to Rs 3500-3675, yellow peas dal Ukraine low type appreciated by Rs 250 to Rs 3950 and fine type also gained Rs 125 to Rs 4125. Bajra inferior type did not move any side, retaining the overnight level at Rs 2800 and best type picked up Rs 100 to Rs 3100. Only one change was seen on the rice sector, Irri-6 Sindh drifted lower by Rs 50 to Rs 3550-3600.
Cottonseed oilcake with bag Sindh moved both ways as low type fell by Rs 30 to Rs 1350 and fine quality was higher by Rs 25 to Rs 1425.
