Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government employees' body suspends agitation till June 30

Employees of different government departments of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Monday announced to suspend agitation campaign till June-30 and called for implementation of remaining 30 percent their demands, if not do so, they would devise a future course of action in this regard.
Speaking at a news conference, here at Peshawar Press Club (PPC), president All Pakistan government employees' co-ordination council (APGECC), Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Mohammad Aslam Khan said that the government had accepted their long pending demands following a prolonged protest campaign. Accompanied by president and general secretary of different government employees' unions and associations, he said that the employees had launched a protest campaign throughout the province for implementation of pay and pension commission binding recommendations three months ago.
Following the negotiation with federal ministers and secretaries, he said the government had agreed to enforce their all pending demands in the recent fiscal budget-2011-12. He, however, said that there are still pending 30 percent of their demands, saying that the employees had demanded of the government to increase wages keeping in view of growing inflation in the country, but it wasn't raised salaries as per their demand.
He asked the provincial government to give 50 percent ad hoc relief allowance, adding that the pay and pension commission will be provincial subject following the passage of 18th constitutional amendments. He called for formation of a committee to carry affairs of the employees with newly constituted commission at central level. He said that the government should raise rest of 15 percent increase in wages along with merging of 50 percent ad hoc allowance in basic pay, as per commitments made during the meeting with heads of government employees' co-ordination council.
APGECC president called for provision of residential facility to all government employees in Regi Lalma Housing Scheme, saying that the Peshawar High Court (PHC) had already decided case in their favour. He demanded of the government for implementation of rest of 15 percent raise in wages, and merging of 50 percent ad hoc allowance in basic pay, and warned that if the government would fail to accept their remaining demands, they would decide future course of action in next month. On the occasion, the government employees have also extended special gratitude to President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister, Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani, and Finance Minister, Dr Hafeez Shiekh and all federal secretaries for acceptance of their demands.
