The CIMA GBC 2011, which is being held in partnership with Barclays, is an international business management competition designed to bring out the best in potential business leaders among young people. The global final, which will be held in Chengdu, China on 23 and 24 July, promises to be a thrilling event with 17 teams competing on an international stage for the title of 'Global Champions'.
Code Breakers will be flown to the global final along with each winning team from Australia, Bangladesh, Mainland China, Hong Kong, India, Ireland, Malaysia, the Middle East, the Philippines, Russia, Vietnam, Indonesia, Singapore, South Africa, Sri Lanka and the UK, once there, they will present a business case to an audience of CIMA delegates and a judging panel of prestigious experts who face the challenging task of picking the winning team. Chengdu is the capital of the Sichuan province in south-west China and is one of the most important economic centres in western China.
The Code Breakers from the Institute of Business Management emerged as country champions after competing with 95 teams from around Pakistan. Three out of four teams shortlisted for the country final were from Karachi and flew into Lahore for the competition conducted in Islamabad.
Proud members of the winning team are Hayat Omer Malik (Team leader), Adeel Idrees, Zaid Imad and Sheharyar Hussain Jaaffri, Axe Consultants from LUMS, Enlightenerz from IoBM and Trail blazers from CAMS were placed 2nd, 3rd and 4th, respectively. Judges were really impressed with their presentation skills and the confidence with which they confronted the toughest questions. An award was also made to the Talal Khan from LUMS for being the Best Presenter for the competition.
