HYDERABAD: Senior Sindh Minister for Food Nisar Ahmed Khuhro Thursday said that democracy was being strengthened in the country by Pakistan Peoples Party's struggle, which had rendered great sacrifices for the cause.

Talking to media persons here at Circuit House, he said that even in the opposition, the party always supported and defended democracy instead of personalities and that was the reason the PPP opponents had also appreciated its role during passage of Amended Bill of delimitation of constituencies from the Senate.

He said the PPP was ready to field its candidates all over the country in the next general election and it was enjoying the confidence of the masses.

He said that the first woman prime minister of the Muslim world had led the PPP. After success in the general election 2018, the PPP would register another history by electing the youngest prime minister, he claimed.

Replying to a question, he said that three hours long briefing of the Chief of Army Staff in the Senate with a questions and answers session indicated that democracy had been strengthened in the country.

He said that former Prime Minister Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto had preferred to sacrifice her life but never compromised on principles.

Her death anniversary would be observed on December 27, 2017 and the PPP would organise a big public meeting at Larkana to pay tribute to her, he said and added that PPP would also organise a big public meeting at Mirpurkhas on January 5, 2018.

Among others, President PPP Hyderabad District Saghir Ahmed Qureshi, General Secretary Ali Ahmed Sehto, Aftab Khanzada, Ahsan Abro, Pasha Qazi, Azhar Sial and Barkat Babbar were also present on the occasion.
