Incidents of violence and arson sparked at Godhra camp and New Karachi after targeted killing of an employee of private bank within the jurisdiction of Taimuria police station on Tuesday. According to details, the incident took place near Shafiq Moor where two unknown armed riders sprayed bullet on a car of 34-year-old Abdul Qadir, son of Abdul Sattar, which left two passers-by namely Abdul Waheed, 40, son of Abdul Nazar and Saleem, 50, son of Dildar injured.
All victims were shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where Qadir succumbed to his injuries during treatment. Following the death of Qadir, score of inhabitants of Godhra camp and New Karachi took to street and staged protest demonstration. The protesters blocked main artery for hours, pelted stones on moving vehicles. Meanwhile, some miscreants also resorted to heavy aerial firing, which left one more passer-by namely Abdul Ghani son of Bakhtiar injured.
Later, heavy contingent of police rushed to the spot and brought the situation in control. Police said the victim, had no political or religious affiliation, and used to work as an accountant in a branch of private bank located at Clifton. They also suspected that the victim might have been murdered over personal enmity. No case was registered till filing of this report.
In another incident, a body of youth was found in an empty plot located in Block-6 in the jurisdiction of Gulistan-e-Jauhar police station. Police said the identity of the victim was yet to be ascertained while his body was found in an empty plot located at Block-6 Gulistan-e-Jauhar. They said that unidentified men brought the victim at the crime place and then killed him with iron rod. No case was registered till filing of this report.
