Provincial President, PPP-Sherpao, Sikandar Khan Sherpao said that the inflation grows to double-digit due to poor monetary policy of ruling coalition government, saying the federal fiscal deficit also rose to 900 billion during last three year.
Speaking at a joining of ANP and PPPP activists in PPP-Sherpao here at Peshawar Press Club (PPC), on Tuesday, he said that the coalition government had totally failed to deliver to poverty stricken masses in its four year rule. The government has increased power tariff on behest of International Monetary Funds (IMF), World Bank (WB) and other financial institutions, he maintained.
He said the budget will grow inflation in the country, saying that the government has imposed indirect taxes on poor masses, which was totally injustice and unfair. "No major project reflects for Khyber Pakhtunkwa in the federal budget-2011-12 except Lowari Tunnel project for district Chitral, he maintained. He said the project had also suspended for the last one year due to lack of required funds, saying that a sum of 0.1 billion for mega project was totally insufficient.
Sikandar Sherpao said the government has least bothered to pay attention toward key issues confronting the country, adding that the people expectations have turned to deprivation in the prevailing situation. He said that there was not taken any concrete steps to overcome with growing energy crisis.
According to rough estimate, he said the country is being faced 5,000MW power shortfall, saying that the impeding electricity shortage also raised joblessness in the country. He added that every 1,000 MW shortfall would affect 3,500 people jobs, according to which, said that more than 1.25 million people were rendered jobless in soaring power shortfall in the country.
The prevailing electricity load shedding has made life of people miserable, whereas the rising power tariff was aggravated the situation, he observed. He said the government had given least attention to key security issues confronted the country. "No specific allocation for militancy hit Khyber Pakhtunkwa in the budget-2011-12, he maintained.
About the Net Hydel profit issue, he said that the Khyber Pakhtunkwa government has reflected a Rs 0.6 billion in fiscal year 2011-12, saying the provincial government has failed to take up the issue with federal government.
He said the issue is becoming complicating in vague situation and deviation from specific formula for the purpose. The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province wasn't given due constitutional right under the National Finance Commission NFC award. He expressed voice concern over the lacking of provincial government about the issue, saying that no formal meeting of technical committee was taken place during last three year.
He lamented that the federal government had extended financial assistance to floods affectees on head of Watan card instead of specific package or funds. He said the lack of interest on part of both federal and provincial government would complicate situation in the insurgency hit Khyber Pakhtunkwa. The terrorism and militancy will grow due to attitude of coalition government towards key issues confronting the country, he added.
Sikandar Sherpao welcomed the decision of ANP and PPPP activists of joining PPP-sherpao, saying that the ANP and PPPP stalwarts joining to other parties reflects their poor performance to masses. Later Hafiz Farzand Ali, and Tajuddin from ANP and Haji Faridullah Khan of PPPP announced on the occasion to joint PPP-sherpao.
