President Asif Ali Zardari on Tuesday donated blood in the nation-wide campaign, marking the 58th birth anniversary of Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Shaheed. President's daughter Bakhtawar Bhutto Zardari and Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah were also present on the occasion at the official residence of the president here.
The president, in a message on the eve of Shaheed leader's birth anniversary, had urged the party workers to donate blood. The blood collected from across the country would be distributed to government hospitals for the needy and a large portion would be handed over to the armed forces, for those who are fighting the extremists and terrorists.
Prime Minister, Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani on Tuesday donated blood marking the 58th birth anniversary. Talking to APP on the occasion, he said Shaheed Benazir was a leader of international stature and the best way to pay tribute is to follow her vision. "It is the responsibility of the party workers to carry forward her vision and make Pakistan strong," he said. He asked the party workers to donate blood generously.
Aseefa Bhutto Zardari Tuesday joined thousands of party workers across the country by donating blood in the national campaign to commemorate the sacrifices of her mother. She donated blood here at the President House. The campaign is held every year to mark the birth anniversary of the Shaheed leader who was assassinated on December 27, 2007, following a historic address to a large public gathering in Rawalpindi. The national blood donation campaign is aimed at collecting blood for the soldiers, police, law enforcement agencies who are fighting extremists and terrorists and the people who need blood for surgeries and different ailments.
