Lahore High Court, Chief Justice here Tuesday disposed of a petition against the strike observed by young doctors association (YDA) followed by deaths of dozens of patients, after law officer informed the court that a high level inquiry commission has been formed to fix the responsibility of the deaths.
An additional advocate general told the court that a five-member commission will be headed by a retired judge, which had been tasked to complete the inquiry and report to the government within fortnight. A journalist Manzoor Qadir had filed the petition stating that more than 50 patients died during young doctors strike for not being given timely treatment.
He said doctors violated their code of professional conduct by observing strike and caused serious problems to citizens who were denied medical treatment, a fundamental right enshrined by the constitution of Pakistan. Petitioner prayed that the government be directed to take action against the doctors.
