In a bid to revive the education sector in a conflict hit area, the district administration has rehabilitated and equipped three educational institutions in Joghabanj and Badarkani villages of district Upper Dir under the Malakand Development Programme (MDP). This intervention aimed at providing better learning environment to the students and to improve the educational standard in the conflict affected area.
According to a press release issued by Malakand Development Programme (MDP) on Wednesday, schools were in a dilapidated condition due to militancy in the area. The buildings were ill equipped, unhygienic and lacked basic sanitation. Therefore, government has initiated the reconstruction and renovation works in these schools.
Under the scheme government high school Joghabanj has been equipped with 230 students chairs, 130 benches, 12 tables, three desktop computers with all the accessories, three computer tables, five steel cupboards, three water coolers, two stabilisers, two heaters with cylinders, 15 office chairs for visitors, 50 energy severs, one five-KVA generator, eight water coolers, two electric water coolers, carpets, three UPS and electric motor.
Moreover, four rooms, one bathroom, veranda, 104-meter long drain and 165-meter long boundary wall has been reconstructed. Similarly, Government High and Primary schools in Badarkani village Upper Dir has also been renovated and rehabilitated. The renovation included construction of toilets, four water tanks, five washrooms, electrification, paint/white wash and also provided electric fans, repairing of stairs and reconstruction of 170-meter long boundary wall of both the schools.
