The Anti-corruption Establishment (ACE) has approached Sindh Chief Secretary for issuance of directive to officials of CDGK to look after very costly plot of well-known artist Guljee, Business Recorder has learnt. Abdul M Ismaili (Guljee) was a very popular artist. He was murdered at his residence in Karachi about a year back.
There is a plot No 1, measuring 2 acres, worth of about Rs 100 million, in sector 16 of Korangi, which had been allotted to Abdul M Ismaili (Guljee) s/o Sher Ali Ismaili, on 24 June 1965 while the possession of the said plot was given to M Ismaili (Guljee) on 5-7-1985, sources said.
The ACE received complaint that a person, named Asif s/o Mohammad Ismail, has claimed to have purchased the said plot from Abdul Rashid s/o Haji Zafar with connivance of corrupt officials of Revenue Department of Korangi Town, CDGK. A team of ACE conducted inquiry in this regard and submitted report to Director ACE Ganhwar Ali Laghari.
Later, Director ACE (Legal) re-inquired the matter through Mohammad Qasim DDO-1 (Industries), Land Management, CDGK, who stated in his report that as per old record of KDA, plot in question was allotted to Abdul M Ismaili (Guljee). The report added that a person, named Amin M Ismaili, claiming himself son of Abdul M Ismaili, approached the office for transfer of said plot in his name on the basis of family gift, executed by his father. The file of said plot was found missing. Hence, with the approval of Re-constitution Committee, the file was re-constituted. After that, it was forwarded to recovery section. They calculated Rs 8062062 outstanding against the plot, which has yet not been recovered. Hence the gift has not been implemented.
Director ACE (Legal) stated in his report to Chairman ACE Ramzan Channa that Artist Guljee had been murdered. No one from his family was residing with him. So that there is nobody who can look after his property, and land grabbers have their evil eyes on said property and they are trying to transfer that plot with connivance of corrupt officials CDGK.
The report said that it is routine practice in concerned department that some of their officials are mixed up with cheaters. They provide information to them about the plots of the absentee owners. The cheaters get published notice of sale of such plots in the newspapers in with names of fake owners see if there is any one looking after the plot. When no response is received then officials arrange fake documents of such plots and reconstitute other file of ownership on the pretext of misplacement of ownership. Chief Secretary Sindh may kindly be approached for issuing of direction to concerned officials in order to look after the plot of Guljee, the report added.
In response of said report, Chairman ACE Ramzan Channa, a few days ago, has written a letter to Chief Secretary Sindh for issuing of directive to concerned officials to look after very costly plot of well-known artist Guljee, sources concluded.
