The Australian and New Zealand dollars held their ground against the greenback on Wednesday, but struggled to gain momentum from news the Greek government won a confidence vote in parliament. The Australian dollar last traded at $1.0585, having ranged between $1.0569 and $1.0610. Support is seen from $1.0532, with strong resistance at $1.0617.
Since its rally to a 29-year peak of $1.1012 last month stalled, the Aussie has settled into a trading range roughly between $1.0500 and $1.0700. Against the New Zealand dollar, the Aussie slipped to NZ$1.3026, continuing to pull back from last week's high of NZ$1.3176. The kiwi dollar stood at $0.8122 in late trade, holding just above its New York close, after staying in a relatively tight trading range.
