Peaceful Afghanistan is in the best interest of Pakistan and would provide guarantee for its safety and security, hence we are with the people of Afghanistan in the process of reconciliation, said Rehman Malik Federal Minister for Interior here on Thursday.
Both the countries have realised that security and monitoring of common borders are in their interest due to which they have decided to form a joint task force to monitor the borders, Malik said while talking to media after his visit to Police Lines Headquarters along with British Foreign Secretary William Hague. "Pakistan welcome peace jirga in Afghanistan and always provide support to any effort that leads to peace," the Minister said.
He said Pakistan has suffered a lot in war against terrorism and we are determined to fight against the menace till its complete elimination. "This is not only the war of Pakistan, but an international war against terrorism and international community should play its role to make the world peaceful and secure," Malik added.
Malik thanked international community for extending technical and legal support to Pakistan, saying that real time intelligence sharing have proved affective in coping with the menace. Replying to a question, Interior Minister said that war on terror is not limited to Pakistan, but other countries are affected by the menace so that it needs collective efforts to weed out the bane once for all.
Giving warning to terrorists including Taliban involved in terrorist activities, Rehman Malik said, "Finish it now, yours days have been numbered and people are fed up of you, you are puppets and playing in the hands of some foreign elements". These elements are neither Pakistanis nor Afghans as they have their own agenda. He also warned them to surrender and tender apology to the people of Pakistan for their misdeeds and subversive activities.
