The AJK Prime Minister Sardar Attique Ahmad Khan lashed out at the PML (N) Chief Nawaz Sharif for allegedly raising hollow slogans comprising attractive commitments for the masses. He was addressing a mammoth rally at the Mirpur Cricket Stadium here Wednesday night held in connection with the electioneering for his Muslim Conference's candidate Chaudhry Muhammad Ashraf in Mirpur city (LA-3) constituency.
Chaudhry Ashraf, the host of the congregation, as well as several other local elders of the party also addressed the rally. Sardar Attique Ahmed Khan said those talking about the construction of motorways network in AJK should first move for making straight the path leading to the house of Raja Zaffar-ul-Haq at Kahota, a town of Rawalpindi.
He said following the reported hostile and insincere attitude of the top leadership of the PML (N), the party's candidates including Arshad Mahmood Ghazi and Ahmed Raza Qadri had returned the party tickets as a protest besides declaring to stay off the polls arena.
Criticising the former AJK Prime Minister Barrister Sultan Mahmood, the close rival candidate of MC's Chaudhry Ashraf in Mirpur city constituency, Attique said the agreement on Mangla raising project was reached during Barrister Sultan's era. He maintained that Sultan had no interest in resolving the long-standing problems of Mangla dam affectees, as he did nothing sincerely for the timely rehabilitation of thousands of IDPs.
"On the other hand, incumbent Muslim Conference regime resolved the major issues including the much-raised issue of the rehabilitation of additional families of Mangla dam affectees, attractive increase in the financial incentives besides the measures for the completion of the under-construction residential resorts including mega new Mirpur city and four small towns exclusively meant for housing the displaced families," he asserted.
Sardar Attique said his Muslim Conference would fully support the Mangla dam affectees till the rehabilitation of the last affected person. Attique announced that local bodies elections would be held exactly six months after the Muslim Conference come to power again in AJK as a result of the land slide victory in June 26 AJK polls.
