Pakistan Customs Drug Enforcement Cell (DEC), Karachi Airport Unit recovered and seized 500g fine quality heroin concealed in capsules inside body cavities of a lady passenger. According to details, Customs DEC staff while clearing the outgoing international passengers at the Departure Hall of Jinnah International Airport, Karachi intercepted a Pakistani lady passenger Zubaida when she came there to board Bangladesh Airlines Flight for Dhaka.
Since the lady could not satisfactorily explain the reason to visit Dhaka, the Customs staff took her for body X-Ray examination. This exercise confirmed the presence of heroin filled capsules inside her body cavities. The lady passenger was instantly taken into custody and hospitalised at JPMC where the medical team recovered 55 heroin capsules from her body cavities.
These capsules were found to contain 500g fine quality heroin. As per initial investigation the lady passenger was inducted by the drug mafia to act as carrier after she lost her housemaid job in Lahore. Consequent upon recovery and seizure of contraband narcotics, the lady passenger has been arrested and a prosecution case under Control of Narcotics Substances Act, 1997 has been registered.
