Crime Investigation Departments (CID) on Friday arrested four militants belonging to different banned religious outfits in separate raids at various parts of the metropolis. According to details, Anti Extremist Cell of CID arrested two militants affiliated with Jundullah and a commander of Tehrik Taliban Pakistan (TTP) Swat chapter in separate raids at Maripur and SITE areas. Meanwhile, Liaquatabad Town police also claimed to have nabbed a man of Jesh-e-Mohammad.
This was stated by AEC chief Chaudhry Aslam at a press conference held at Garden Police Headquarters on Friday. He said that two militants of Jundullah were identified as Mohammad Saleem alias Rizwan alias Jihadi alias Taliban and Rizwan Ali while the commander of TTP was known as Nazeer Ahmed alias Waqas.
He said these arrests were made in separate raids conducted between Thursday and Friday night. He further said that some of their accomplices escaped under the cover of darkness and raids were being conducted to arrest them.
He said that they had recovered two live suicide jackets, 25kgs of high explosives material, a light machine gun (LMG), 10 detonators, 30-feet of detonating wire, T&T blocks, three rifles, four repeaters, 300 rounds of sub-machine gun (SMG) and four police uniforms during raids. Aslam said the accused Saleem during the initial interrogation admitted that he was working with Fasih-ur-Rehman group of Jundullah as an in-charge of city.
He said the accused also confessed to have been involved in various bomb blasts in the city including Ashura bomb blast near Light House in December 2009, Muharram 8th procession in Paposh Nagar, Muharram 9th procession in Qasba Colony and Chehlum bombblasts and many more. He said the group was divided into two sub groups; one, which was led by the accused Saleem, was responsible for making bombs while the other group was to execute attacks.
He said in another raid, AEC arrested Nazeer Ahmed, who is a commander of TTP Swat chapter. Aslam said the accused, who belonged to the Fazlullah group, involved in various acts of terrorism in Swat including attacks on security forces, sensitive installations, government buildings, schools and others. Meanwhile, Super Market police said that they had arrested an accused namely Saleem son of Rahimullah in a raid near from Khamosh Colony graveyard. They said they had recovered one LMG from his possession and added that he was a worker of banned outfit Jesh-e-Mohammad.
