Sniffer dogs to be used to ensure foolproof security

Islamabad Police will use sniffer dogs to ensure foolproof security, hence the well-trained dogs are being deployed at entry and exit points of the Federal Capital, sources in Capital Police revealed to Business Recorder on Friday. Risk Control Strategic (RCS) is assisting Islamabad Police in maintaining the security without any cost and providing sniffer dogs in various timings for checking purpose at different points, the sources said.
The main points where the checking had been conducted include Islamabad Chowk Toll Plaza, 9th Avenue near IJP Road Turn, Faizabad, Adenture Inn turn on Murree Road, Kashmir Highway opposite Wafaqi Urdu University, Chand Tara Chowk, New Stock Exchange Building on Jinnah Avenue, Kashmir Highway Opposite TF Complex, WAPDA House near Convention Center, Bhara Kahu Barrier, NESCOM, Margallah Road, Express Chowk, Dhok Kashmirian, Tipu Road I-8/4 Double Road. To ensure elaborate security arrangements Islamabad Police have decided to start briefing for officials deputed at check points to maintain high vigilance and come up with idea to conduct checking through sniffer dogs as well, the sources said.
SSP Islamabad Tahir Alam Khan has directed for making comprehensive security arrangements and several measures are being adopted for foolproof security arrangements and sniffer dogs are being deployed in various shifts at police pickets for the security purpose, police sources said. Manager Operations, RCS, Irfan Ahmed said that they assist Islamabad Police only in maintaining high vigilance and this service is being provided free of cost. He said sniffer dogs at various points help in conducting checking of various suspected vehicles or luggage.
He said that these sniffer dogs provided by them can trace explosive material and narcotics too. He said CEO of Risk Control Strategic Ltd Muhammad Asad Ansari has assured Islamabad Police for every possible contribution towards tightening security. RCS have their own state-of-the-art training set up by hiring ex-army trainers and handlers for special training of the sniffer dogs. To tighten the security, all SHOs have been directed to co-ordinate with RCS and manage checking by their dogs from time to time in the city.
