Scattered rains, thundershowers during week expected

Onset of Monsoon over upper parts of Pakistan on Monday/Tuesday is going to cause scattered rains/thundershowers during the week, Met Office said it in a special advisory here on Sunday. It said that the monsoon currents are penetrating continuously over upper parts of Pakistan that indicate the onset of regular monsoon rains during next 24/36 hrs (Monday/Tuesday) in the country.
The expected first spell of monsoon rains would last 4-5 days in upper parts of Pakistan, giving scattered rains/thundershowers with isolated heavy falls in Punjab, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) and Kashmir. Rain/thundershowers also expected in Islamabad during next 24 hrs. Monsoon rain is also predicted at isolated places of lower Sindh during the mid-week.
Met Office further stated that the onset of monsoon normally in Pakistan is expected on 1st July, but it is going to start (onset) 4 days before this year.
The prevailing hot/humid weather conditions since last few days are likely to subside in Islamabad, Punjab, KPK and Kashmir from Monday, it added.
In its local forecast for Monday, Met Office said scattered thunderstorm/rain with isolated heavy falls is likely to occur over Zhob, D.G.Khan, D.I.Khan, Sargodha, Bannu and Lahore divisions. Local thunderstorm/rain may occur over Peshawar division and Gilgit-Baltistan. Fairly widespread thunderstorm/rain with isolated heavy falls may occur over Hazara, Malakand, Kohistan, Rawalpindi, Gujranwala divisions and Kashmir. A few thunderstorm/ rain may occur over south-east Sindh. While in rest of the country hot and humid weather is expected.
Weather remained hot and humid in most parts of the country. However, isolated rain/dust-thundershower occurred in Kashmir and adjoining hilly areas.

Meanwhile the Flood Warning Centre has reported that all rivers Indus, Kabul, Jhelum and Chenab are flowing below flood level in the country.
The total water inflow in the four live rivers has crossed 375,000 cusecs with major contribution of mighty Indus, 210,000 cusecs. River Kabul is flowing with 41,900 cusecs, river Jhelum 44,800 cusecs and river Chenab 83,100 cusecs.
The water discharge at Guddu barrage is 128,000 cusecs, Sukkur 91,000 cusecs and Kotri 37,000 cusecs.
