Parliamentarians from Federally Administered Tribal Area (FATA) on Tuesday expressed reservations over the newly introduced Aid for Civil Power Regulation in FATA. A delegation of the parliamentarians from FATA called on the Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Barrister Masood Kausar at Governor's House and discussed a number of issues relating to FATA.
They exchanged views on the law and order situation as well as the development process besides the newly introduced Aid of Civil Power Regulation. The parliamentarian who attended the meeting included Senators Maulana Saleh Shah, Abdul Raziq, Engineer Rashid Ahmad Khan, Senator Abbas Khan and MNAs Maulana Noor-ul-Haq Qadri, Maulana Abdul Malik, Munir Orakzai, Kamran Khan, Sajid Hussein Turi, Akhunzada Chatan and Zafar Beg Bhittani.
The governor assured that the new law was not aimed at the tribesmen rather it was promulgated to target the anti-state elements, who had been creating unrest in FATA. He said that the new regulation would ensure the protection of basic rights of the tribesmen under the 1973 constitution. He said that through this legislation the unwanted mischievous elements could be brought to book. The governor said that the new regulation was in the best interest of the tribal people. However, he said a law could not be regarded as final because it can be reconsidered any time. If over the time any flaw was found in it will be removed, he assured.
