Electricity shortfall dipped from 5211MW to 3280MW on Wednesday due to drop in power demand after rains and increased production by hydel power units and Independent Power Producers. In its daily power situation report, PEPCO spokesman said that hydel, and thermal units, IPPs and RPPs produced 14,218MW electricity against Tuesday's generation of 13,051MW, an increase of 1000MW.
Similarly, the electricity demand ditched from 18,262MW to 17,498MW after first spell of monsoon that markedly dropped temperature in the upper regions of the country. He said that hydel power stations at Tarbela, Mangla, Warsak, Chashma, Ghazi Barotha etc are producing 5,3145MW, thermal power houses 1916MW, IPPs 6,804 and RPPs 139MW. PEPCO is supplying 780 MW to KESCO, he added. A Wapda spokesman has clarified that the overall power situation in the country including load-shedding falls in the ambit of the Ministry of water and Power.
