The two-day exhibition for products promotion of militancy-hit skilled house based women from Bajuar, Mohmand, and Khyber agencies under the aegis of Centre of Excellence for Rural Development, (CERD) in collaboration with UNHCR began here at Jalozai makeshift camp on Tuesday.
In the exhibition, more than 20 stalls of handmade embroidery, decoration pieces and artist work were put on display. The exhibition was formally launched during a ceremony held here at Jalozai IDP camps. CERD project manager community service, Saifur Rehman, Robina and Kalsoom, Director relief provincial disaster management authority (PDMA), Zulfiqar Ali along with a large number of skilled women from the affected agencies were attended the opening ceremony.
Speaking at the occasion, CERD project manager CS, Saifur Rehman said that the women from militancy hit areas have immense skills and experience in embroidery along with different artistic work. He, however, said that they don't have many opportunities to show their skills due to meager resources.
Explaining aims and objectives of the exhibition, he said that promotion of handmade stuffs and other essential products of skilled women from war-affected agencies is the main objective of the two day activity. He added that the exhibition will helpful to access products of house based women entrepreneurs' from turbulent areas in local market.-PR
