Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) Member Inland Revenue Khawar Khurshid Butt has said on Wednesday the FBR will not extend the last date for availing amnesty schemes announced through SRO.647 (I)/2011, SRO.648 (I)/2011 and SRO.646 (I)/2011 beyond June 30, 2011.
Talking to Business Recorder, FBR Member IR clarified that the registered taxpayers should avail the amnesty schemes up to June 30, 2011. However, there is no possibility of any extension in the date of the said amnesty schemes. The taxpayers should avail these amnesties on June 30, Khawar Khurshid Butt added.
It is important to mention that the Board had announced three amnesty schemes for business community covering remission of default surcharge/penalties on payment of principal amount of sales tax or federal excise duty, waiver off penalties/fine/surcharge on payment of outstanding principal amount of custom duty and exemption of penalty/default surcharge on deposit of advance withholding tax by June 30, 2011. In this connection, the FBR had issued three notifications ie SRO.647 (I)/2011, SRO.648 (I)/2011 and SRO.646 (I)/2011 for providing tax incentives to the taxpayers for depositing their outstanding due.
