Appointments of VCs Justice Asmat refuses to hear intra-court appeal

Justice Asmat Saeed of Lahore High Court on Thursday refusing to hear an intra court appeal against dismissal of petitions by a single bench through which appointment of vice chancellors for six public sector universities in Punjab was challenged and observed that he was member of Government College University syndicate, therefore, it will not be appropriate for him to proceed with the case.
He referred the appeal to the chief justice and requested to fix it before any other appropriate bench. Dr Hassan Amir Shah, professor, Department of Physics at Government College University Lahore, filed the appeal. A single bench while dismissing several petitions on the matter had observed that the Punjab government's search committee had been acting lawfully and no irregularities were found in the process of appointment.
