The Karachi Port handled 110,152 tonnes of cargo including 83,004 tonnes of import cargo, 27,148 tonnes of export cargo and 4,631 loaded & empty containers during last 24 hours ended at 0700 hours on Saturday. The total import cargo of 83,004 tonnes comprised of 31,952 tonnes of containerised cargo; 506 tonnes of general cargo; 17,000 tonnes of coal and 33,546 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 27,148 tonnes comprised of 18,401 tonnes of containerised cargo; 279 tonnes of general cargo; 8,468 tonnes of bulk cargo: 176 tonnes of cement; 7,056 tonnes of loose bulk cement; 801 tonnes of wheat and 435 tonnes of rice.
Seven ships namely President Truman, Hanjin Berlin, Wan Hai-602, Malhari, Remi, Norca and J.Friend carrying three container ships, three oil tanker and general cargo ship respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period. Eight vessels viz APL Guangzhou, Emirates Kabir, OOCL Charleston, Al-Mirqab, Glory River, Siam Sapphire, Oriental Marguerite and Fair Express carrying four container ships, two bulk cargo carriers and two oil tankers respectively are currently at the berths.
Six ships namely CSL Ride, Emirates Kabir, Kota Azam, Oriental Marguerite, Fair Express and Vera-9 with three container ships, two oil tankers and coal carrier respectively expected to sail on Saturday, while two ships namely APL Guangzhou and Mahmut Saka with container ship and wheat carrier respectively are expected to sail on Sunday.
Four vessels viz Northern Valour, Northern Valence, Shoko Maru and Alliance Charleston with two container ships, ethanol carrier and vehicles carrier due to arrive on Saturday, while five vessels viz Bunga Raya Empat, APL Brisbane, Bravo, Taroko and Tebamacle Prince carrying four container ships and cement carrier respectively are due to arrive on Sunday.
The total export cargo of 29,393 tonnes includes 3,919 tonnes of wheat; 2,531 tonnes of cement and 22,943 tonnes of containerised cargo. MV CSAV Cant Brain sailed out to sea during last 24 hours, while another ship namely MSC Glory will sail out to sea on Saturday morning.
A total number of seven vessels MV Acacia-N, MV Tamil Nadu, MV Orient-III, CV MSC Glory, MT Sea Lion, MT SC Tianjin and MV Ataman are currently occupying berths to load/offload cement, wheat, containers, palm oil, furnace oil and canola seeds respectively during last 24 hours. Two ships namely CV MSC Serra-II and MT Leader carrying container ship and diesel oil are currently at the outer anchorage. A container vessel viz CV MSC Serra-II expected to take berth at Containers Terminal on Saturday.
