Commodities like grain, Irri, black pepper, castorseeds, nutmeg rose on the wholesale markets with a day remained closed on Shab-e-Meraj. On the rice side Irri-6 Sindh low type was unchanged at Rs 3650, while the better type rose by Rs 50 to Rs 3750. On the seed side castorseeds Lasbela rose by Rs 100 to Rs 2250 and Rs 2300, castorseeds Sindh rose by Rs 150 to Rs 2150 and Rs 2200, cottonseed cakes with bag in Sindh low type rose by Rs 40 to Rs 1390, while the other type was put at Rs 1425.
On Jodia Bazaar (40-kg) white pepper was quoted at Rs 32000, black pepper from Singapore rose by Rs 100 to Rs 20,700, nutmeg rose by Rs 1000 to Rs 29000, while small cardamom ended down by Rs 2000 to Rs 76,000.
On Tuesday grams Australia rose by Rs 100 to Rs 4700 and Rs 4900, gram dal Australia rose by same amount to Rs 5700 and Rs 5900, grams 50x50 rose by Rs 5550 and Rs 5750, Irri-6 Sindh low type rose by Rs 25 to Rs 3675, while the other type stayed put at Rs 3750, cotton-cakes with bag in Sindh low type lost Rs 40 to Rs 1350, while the other variety was seen put at Rs 1425.
On Wednesday lean business was marked where Irr-6 Sindh low type rose by Rs 25 to Rs 3700, while the other quality stayed put at Rs 3750, cotton-cakes with bag in Sindh low type rose by Rs 30 to Rs 1380, while the other type was unchanged at Rs 1425.
On Jodia Bazaar chemicals (per 40-kg) caustic soda flakes Saudi rose by Re 1 to Rs 51, sodium sulphate rose by Rs 2 to Rs 17 and citric acid from China conceded Rs 2 to Rs 120. Petroleum jelly white Iran quoted at Rs 45 and petroleum jelly from China quoted at Rs 71.
On Thursday rates were not released owing to closed holiday on account of Shab-e-Meraj. On Friday commodity items maintained the overnight rates on the wholesale grain and seed market as participants, as usual were busy in preparations for Jumma prayers.
On Saturday grams and rice prices were sharply increased as buyers showed interest in the fresh purchasing ahead of Ramazan. Gram Australia was up by Rs 100 to Rs 4800-5000, gram dal Australia followed same trend, gaining the same amount at Rs 5800-6000, grams 50x50 picked up the same amount to Rs 5650-5850, yellow peas Canada gained Rs 100 to Rs 4050-4250 and yellow peas dal Canada rose the same figure to Rs 4500-4700. Makai was quoted lower at Rs 2125-2250 and Juwar low type shed Rs 50 to Rs 2100, while the best type was unchanged at Rs 2200. Irri-6 Sindh low type was up by Rs 50 to Rs 3750 and better quality was higher by Rs 100 to Rs 3850 and Irri-white (broken), however, lost and was at Rs 2800-2900 due to slight improvement in the supply position. Cottonseed oilcake with bag Sindh low quality did not move any side at Rs 1380 and good type picked up Rs 25 to Rs 1450.
On Jodia Bazaar kirana items ended up. The changes were: KIRANA ITEMS (Per 40-kg): White pepper closed higher by Rs 500 to Rs 32,500, black pepper Singapore edged up by Rs 200 to Rs 20,900, Cinnamon leaves moved upward by Rs 200 to Rs 5,600 and Rai was quoted at Rs 2,100.
