Firmness prevailed on the currency market as the rupee held the weekend level against dollar during the day, money experts said. The rupee managed to retain the weekend levels versus dollar for buying and selling at 85.90 and 85.95, they said.
INTERBANK MARKET RATES: In the first Asian trade euro pared its gains against dollar and pulled back from a one-month high after Standard & Poor's said a debt rollover plan being considered for Greece may put the country into selective default. The euro had hit a one-month high of $1.4580 earlier on Monday, buoyed by diminished worries over the risk that Greece may default in the short-term, with stop-loss buying adding to its rise.
The yuan hit a record high against dollar on Monday after the People's Bank of China fixed a historically strong mid-point, but the market remained cautious about the pace of yuan appreciation. Indian rupee was trading at Rs 44.57 versus dollar and Malaysian ringgit was available at 3.000 in terms of the greenback.
Interbank buy/sell rates for taka against dollar on Monday: 74.25/74.29 (previous 74.20/74.24) Call Money Rates: 6.00-10.00 percent (previous 7.25-12.00 percent).
OPEN MARKET RATES: The rupee maintained overnight level against the greenback for buying and selling at 86.00 and 86.20 for selling, they added. The rupee shed three paisa versus euro for buying and selling at Rs 124.43 and Rs 124.93, they said.

RUPEE IN LAHORE: The rupee opened the week on a positive note, as it appreciated its worth by 5-paisa on buying side (Rs 86.00) and 10-paisa on selling side (Rs 86.15) in relation to the greenback in the local currency markets.
According to the moneychangers, the greenback opened at Rs 86.00 (buying) and Rs 86.15 (selling) against Rs 86.05 and 86.25 of last Saturday rate. The dollar did not observe any change in the second session and closed at the opening rates on buying and selling counters.
Similarly, the rupee recovered its earlier loss against the British Pound. The pound was purchased and sold at Rs 138.00 and Rs 138.60 on buying and selling sides, respectively, as against Rs 138.30 and Rs 138.70 of Saturday, the dealers said.
RUPEE IN ISLAMABAD AND RAWALPINDI: The value of dollar against the rupee remained unchanged at the open currency markets of Islamabad and Rawalpindi here on Monday.
The dollar opened at Rs 86.00 (buying) and Rs 86.20 (selling) against same overnight value. It did not observe further change in the second session and closed at Rs 86.00 (buying) and Rs 86.20 (selling).
Pound Sterling opened at Rs 138.40 (buying) and Rs 138.50 (selling) against same overnight value. It did not observe further change in the evening session and closed at Rs 138.40 (buying) and Rs 138.50 (selling).
