US wheat and corn futures surged on Tuesday, rebounding from the sharp declines of last week as demand from overseas buyers perked up, traders said. Chicago Board of Trade wheat rose 4.2 percent, its biggest gain in seven weeks after last week's drop to an 11-month low.
At 12:39 a.m. CDT (1739 GMT), Chicago Board of Trade July wheat futures were up 24-1/2 cents at $6.09 a bushel, just a 1-1/2 cents below the intraday high. CBOT July corn rose 39-1/4 cents to $6.80 while the new-crop December contract was up 10-1/2 cents at $6.07-1/4.
