Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) will arrange refresher courses for its more than 600 personnel in various phases to improve professional skills. The decision was taken by Senior Superintendent of Police (Traffic) Dr Moeen Masood and SP (Traffic) Mir Vais Niaz in a meeting with the officials of ITP's education wing held, here on Tuesday.
The SSP (Traffic) said that purpose of these courses is to ensure capacity building of ITP's personnel who have to perform duties in odd situations and make continuous interaction with public. These courses to be held in various phases will start from Wednesday (today) and to remain continue for two months. Inspectors, Sub-Inspectors, Assistant Sub-Inspectors, Head Constables, Constables will participate in these courses to learn traffic rules.
Senior Superintendent of Police (Traffic) Dr Masood and SP (Traffic) Mir Vais Niaz will personally supervise these courses and deliver special lectures to the personnel. Policemen performing duties on VIP routes will be focused in these refresher courses while First Aid Course will be arranged for the all batches to tackle any emergency on roads in an effective manner.
The operational staff will be taught to follow the operational codes of ITP, adopt polite attitude with citizens to ensure community policing and improve the image of the force. They will be given special training to handle traffic manually in case of disruption in power supply to traffic signals. The SSP (Traffic) hoped that these refresher courses would make personnel 'professionally sound' and bring further positive change among them to accomplish duties in a responsible manner.
